What has changed

A new lane restriction on Phaya Thai Road at Ratchathewi intersection was scheduled to begin at 10pm on Friday, 6 November. Drivers using the corridor this weekend should allow extra time and follow the temporary traffic layout.

The Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand notice, carried by traffic broadcaster FM91, assigns the restriction to construction of diaphragm walls for entrances and exits at Ratchathewi station, OR08, on the western Orange Line project.

Which direction is affected?

One additional lane is being taken from the carriageway heading towards Phaya Thai intersection. Two lanes remain available in that direction. The opposite carriageway, towards Pathum Wan intersection, retains three lanes.

The published restriction runs continuously, 24 hours a day, until midnight at the end of 7 February 2027. It is therefore a sustained reduction in road space, rather than an overnight-only closure.

Access and journey planning

The notice says residents can continue entering and leaving their properties. It also warns of inconvenience to road users and possible construction noise nearby.

MRTA advises avoiding the affected route when travel there is unnecessary. If your journey involves a hotel pickup, delivery or appointment near the junction, confirm the access point with the property and leave additional time. Do not assume that the full road is closed: the notice specifies the remaining lanes in each direction.

The project enquiry number listed in the notice is 063 217 6532. Check current project information before a time-critical trip, as the published end date is the construction traffic plan and remains subject to subsequent notices.
