What has changed
Hua Hin municipality plans to repair railings and replace damaged or missing lights around Khao Tao Reservoir, following residents’ complaints about safety, cleanliness and use of the public space.
Hua Hin Today reported the plans on 29 October after a meeting chaired by Mayor Nopporn Wutthikul on Tuesday, 27 October. The municipality had received a written complaint covering damaged railings, lighting problems, litter and other conditions around the reservoir.
Repairs and regular cleaning
The Engineering Bureau is to coordinate with the Royal Irrigation Department on damaged stainless steel railings. Replacement lights are also planned where fixtures are damaged or missing.
The Public Health and Environment Division has been assigned to remove soil and sand between the Khao Tao community entrance and Wat Khao Tao, collect rubbish from the water and arrange regular cleaning around the reservoir.
Managing the lakeside public space
The report also describes improvements to the pavilion, inspections of tents occupying pavements and signs asking people to refrain from fishing. Officials are expected to explain the fishing request to local residents.
A municipal staff clean-up is planned for Tuesday, 3 November, from 9am. The report describes an assignment for municipal employees; it does not announce a public volunteer registration programme.
What visitors should expect
The plans do not include a published completion date for the railing or lighting repairs. They also do not establish that every reported problem has already been fixed.
If using the reservoir paths, check the condition of the specific section ahead, follow any temporary barriers and avoid relying on damaged railings for support. Visitors arriving after dark should confirm that their intended route is adequately lit. Look for further municipal notices about work areas and access as the improvements proceed.
