About Bu Kit Subdistrict

Bu Kit (บูกิต), also written Bukit, is a subdistrict of Cho-Airong District in Narathiwat. The Ministry of Culture's local history links its name to the Malay word for a hill and describes a community at the foot of forested uplands, with streams supplying surrounding villages. The railway later became an important part of settlement and local trade.

This page covers the administrative area, which includes several villages, rather than only the railway station or the local-authority office. A visit to a household, school or community group needs the village name and a confirmed meeting point; the general subdistrict reference point does not identify a station entrance.

The area is best approached through an arranged local visit rather than by assuming that wooded hills or waterways have open tourist trails. Ask a local host about access and transport, and confirm a train stop directly with the railway if you intend to use rail.
