About Similan Islands
The core group is associated with numbered islands and recognisable coastal rock scenery, including the sail-shaped viewpoint rock on Ko Similan. The islands are administratively in Ko Phra Thong Subdistrict, Khura Buri District; the mainland park office and departure ports are elsewhere. The physical archipelago and Mu Ko Similan National Park have different geographic scope, as the protected area also incorporates additional offshore islands and marine sites.
DNP visitor guidance provides for day visits and scuba diving during the operating season, rather than overnight visitor stays on the islands. Confirm an authorised operator, current park entry arrangements and which landings are included. The announced 2026 seasonal closure ended on 15 October, but individual sites can remain restricted. Keep to designated viewpoints, avoid coral contact and check weather before the exposed offshore crossing.
